Original Music video

This the the original music video for the song that we have chosen, we plan on doing something different to this video while keeping the same ideas of having an easy to follow narrative, we would like to make an original yet interesting video for the song.

There are man different versions of this song, out of these we have chosen to use the 'Chicane Feat Natasha Bedingfield- Bruised Water (Adam K & Soha)' remix version, although we have chosen a remix of the original song, we plan to still use inspiration from the original music video created for the initial version of the song. We have decided on using this because we feel that the order of the music will fit in better with our ideas for a music video in comparison to the normal song. The pace of this version of the song additionally makes it easier to create a fitting music video with a range of camera angles and shots. We plan to use the first 60 seconds of music and no singing to build up the background to the song, so the viewer can both understand and be intrigued by our video.

Inspiration For Make-Up

We have been trying to think outside the box and think about how we can adapt our genre, to intrigue the audience and give them something that is not typically found in this particular genre. We have been inspired by this video to try and recreate it in our music video. However we wont have the blood and the black lines on the face. But since our music video is performance and amplification video as well as a narrative one, we thought this would work extremely well. However instead of just having the makeup looking like eyes on top of the lids. When our characters open their eyes they will also have contact lenses in so it will be a shock to the audience and be exceptionally effective.

Michael Jackson Video - Inspiration From Music Videos

We took inspiration from this video because we appreciated the originality behind it. However in work we will create we do not intend to replicate this dance but hopefully manipulate that dance into our own modern version.

To whom it May concern;

We are media students currently studying at Hartlepool Sixth Form College. We are interested in using your song ‘ Bruised Water’ in our work, which will consist of us creating a music video and try to attempt to portray the music in an original way. We are hoping to create a performance-based video, in which we are contemplating on also including a narrative within. Our initial ideas consist of five individuals painted in blue and purple glow paint, in which we have tried to represent, the hurt they are feeling on the inside shown on the outside. So mental scarring shown on the outside thus relating to the lyrics ‘ I bruise easily’. We also are planning to attempt dancing within our video, but jerky so you can see our characters are hurting. The beginning of the video we plan to have our characters dressed casual looking over a cliff and next they are lying in different locations they then head towards the beach at the end you see them walk into the sea and when they are walking out the sea they are normal again. As if their worries and pain have been washed away. The camera will be on top of the cliff filming the characters walking out the sea thus relating to the beginning of the video where the characters are looking down. Thus leaving the viewer wondering who is watching them leaving the narrative ending on an actual cliffhanger. The costumes are bright blue glow paint with purple bruises their makeup will consist of large eyelashes to extenuate the eyes which will have white contacts in. Perhaps representing that they are blind to everything around them and focused on only the hurt in which they are feeling. Also running black mascara will be used. Backcombed hair and black dresses with slits in showing red glow paint representing more scars on the inside. We have decided to create our characters in a kind of trance due to the fact the genre of music is trance. As you can see we have planned our video thoroughly and would be extremely grateful if it would be at all possible to use your song. Our finished product will be professionally finished and further contribute to the popularity of your song.

Yours sincerely,

Jasmine Graham, Rachel Noddings, Grace Peel.

We got in contact with chicane when wanting to ask for permission to use their song by sending them a letter in a message on the social networking site myspace.

Inspiration for Movement

We got inspiration as odd as it may seem from this speeding advert due to the fact of the grotesque stiff movements shown by the girl. We were inspired to use this because we find it relates to our video because the characters in it are harmless but due to the way they look people find them quite disturbing to watch just as the little girl in the video. We thought this would be extremely effective in our music video.
